We have come full circle. Modern day evangelicals have become the Jews of the New Testament. Faith in Christ has become faith in faith in Christ. Faith is no longer a gift of God but an exercise of the will. As an exercise of the will it now serves as the equivalent of the Law, the means by which we gain access to God and are assured of our heavenly reward. Evangelical preachers and theologians have become the new scribes. We have become the Pharisee in the temple, confident of our place before God and proud of our position. Our belief has become a law unto itself and in need of a new Pauline corrective. The essence of Luther's Bondage of the Will must be recovered, i.e.: we cannot by an act of the will move God to grant us salvation. The evangelical church now dispenses salvation instead of preaching the gospel and has as such assumed the Jewishness of the Roman Catholic Church.

Now you've done it-you mean salvation is not automatically dispensed upon the faith of the recipient-are there 'conditions'to John 3:16?
There is of course a great mystery in the saving grace of God toward the believer. What must not be compromised, however, is the sovereignty of God: we may never put him under obligation. Is the belief merely volitional or is it a response to the grace of God? Who can answer that question but God alone?
